We are pleased to inform you that the CELL FOR AWARENESS and RESEARCH IN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (CARES) is organizing the NLIU ENVIRONMENT MEET 2010, under the aegis of the National Environment Awareness Program sponsored by the Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India, on Saturday, 20th November, 2010 

Various Competitions will be organised for schools with the purpose of spreading awareness about environmental issues among school children

EVENT 1: MEET THE PRESS

Meet the Press is one of the most popular activity conducted during the past years as a part of the National Environment Awareness Campaign launched by the Govt. of India.  Each team, comprising of 2 students will be given an opportunity participate wherein one student shall act as a Journalist and other as a Celebrity. This competition aims to analyze the questioning power and the ability to answer the questions effectively and convincingly. The celebrities will be related to the field of environment.

EVENT 2: MAD ADS

This event is an excellent forum to showcase the mimic or actor within the person. The participants are expected to exhibit their talent making people laugh this would be the best act to participate in.  One may get mad and crazy in his/her act making others crazy about the talent and its performance. The only condition of such act is that it should be on the theme of environment protection or challenges involved in the same.

EVENT 3:DEBATE

Environmental Degradation is a global problem, local solutions for which need to be through large scale deliberations and discussions. Thus the debate competition aims to inculcate amongst the students the argumentation skills and the skill to persuade one another, besides exhibiting their sensitivity towards the knowledge of environmental issues.
The topic of this year’s Debate is- Is there a need of State in Protection of environment?



EVENT 4: GROUP DISCUSSION

This forum provides for interactive session to the students. Those who are good orator and actively desire to put forth their views have an excellent opportunity to participate in the ‘Group Discussion’. The topic for GD will be on some environment-related issue. The topics are:
  1. Genetically modified crops do more harm than good.
  2. Environment can be sacrificed for the sake of Development
  3. Environment: “Who’s responsibility”?


EVENT 5: COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION

Let the creativity come out. Students are invited to create collage on chart papers using newspaper and other waste material.  Participants are expected to cut out paper and stick on the base chart using adhesive. Ideas can be borrowed from any environmental theme.

EVENT 6: QUIZ
Questions will be related to environment in general.

EVENT 7: PAPER BAG MAKING COMPETITION
With a purpose to avoid the use of polythene in day-to-day activities, this competition is an inter-school competition, i.e., the school that sends the highest number of paper bags, wins the prize. (These paper bags will be used in the second stage of our implementation of the National Environment Awareness Programme at market places). We expect each school to send at-least 100 or above counts of paper bags by 18th November. Either deliver the collected set as a single entry to National Law Institute University, Kerwa Dam Rd., Bhopal or inform via e-mail to nliucares@gmail.com about the completion of the event and collection within school. It is up to the discretion of school administration to organize it as a craft activity within school hours or direct the students to bring finished paper-bags from home. Please remember that all paper-bags must be made out of waste papers only (newspaper and other waste cardboard material like sweet boxes, greeting cards etc). The dimension should be 18”(inches) x 15”(inches) approximately.


EVENT 8: PAPER BAG PAINTING COMPETITION

Paper bags should be painted on a theme of environment protection. Each school is expected to submit maximum of 5 individual entries of painted paper bags. The specifications for the paper-bags are the same as in paper-bag making competition. Each paper bag should be specifically named (Students should write down their name, roll no., class, school)
